Cambray Court Apartments Ribbon Cutting

We are thrilled to announce the successful completion of our latest project and to have celebrated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony! It was a proud moment for our team to see the culmination of six years of dedication to this project. The ribbon-cutting ceremony was a wonderful opportunity to connect with our local partners, clients, and the community to showcase the innovative design and quality craftsmanship that went into this project. In collaboration with MEP engineer Jade Stone Engineering (Watertown, NY) and general contractor Contech Building Systems (Gouverneur, NY), Aubertine and Currier was able to deliver 21 fully renovated affordable housing units to the Northern New York region. In addition, the Community Building that serves the apartment buildings was outfitted with new windows, exterior doors, siding, roofing, accessibility improvements, a new kitchen, and renovated accessible bathrooms.

Aubertine and Currier was commissioned to deliver comprehensive professional design services for a 12,000 square foot multifamily affordable housing project for the Cambray Housing Corporation in Gouverneur, New York. This project commenced with a physical needs assessment in order to analyze the large-scale needs of the property.

Each of the six apartment buildings was renovated down to the framing and provided with new roofs, windows and doors, siding, interior finishes, plumbing fixtures, a new heating system, casework, and appliances. The design and construction team encountered several challenges with this project including a nearby flood plain of the Oswegatchie River, extensive hazardous materials remediation, and carefully coordinated construction phasing to accommodate existing building tenants. Building envelope upgrades in conjunction with high-efficiency equipment and fixtures provide the building owner with tangible measures that will reduce the overall operating costs for the lifetime of the project. Of the 21 units, 4 are fully accessible for individuals with mobility needs, and all first-floor units are fully adaptable for quick conversion as needed by the property manager. A community room with a kitchenette was provided for tenants to gather and enjoy a view overlooking the Oswegatchie River while sitting on a new attached deck. Accessible routes on the site were provided to all apartment buildings with ADA-compliant sidewalks, ramps, and guardrails. We would like to thank New York State Homes and Community Renewal, Development Authority of the North Country, New York State Energy Research and Development Authority, United Helpers, and Community Bank, NA for their invaluable contributions to this project’s success.
