Key Project:
Clayton Yacht House
A&C provided a full range of multi-disciplinary services for the 18,000 SF, three-story building that was constructed on a vacant lot within the Village of Clayton. The mixed-use building includes restaurant space, multiple retail spaces, and ten condominiums on the upper levels. Due to the complex nature of the site needing access from multiple elevations, the ground floor is split into two levels with retail spaces having a street level presence and the lower restaurant having a river walk presence. The project further involved design of a large terrace with restaurant seating overlooking the Thousand Islands and St. Lawrence Seaway. Residential levels feature one-bedroom condominiums with spacious open floor plans and balconies overlooking the St. Lawrence River. Most of the units will have a river view, while the others will overlook historic downtown Clayton.
The multi-building is fully handicapped accessible with access from the sidewalk at the street level and from the public riverwalk at the back of the building and features an interior elevator. Elevator design specifications were based on Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Guidelines due to the construction site being below the floodplain elevation.
The exterior is designed in a classical style to compliment the historic nature of downtown Clayton.
In 2017, A&C was presented with an Award of Merit for the category of Commercial/Industrial Large Projects of 5,000 square feet and over by the AIA Central NY. The project was also granted the 2016 Excellence in Construction and Craftsmanship award by the Northern New York Builders Exchange.
