Key Project:
Ellisburg Free Library Renovation
Funded by a New York State Education Department grant, Aubertine and Currier provided multi-disciplinary architectural and civil design services for the renovation of the Ellisburg Free Library, a cherished community asset since 1994, with a focus on accessibility, safety, and modernization.
Improvements included a new HVAC system, replacement windows and doors, updated wall paneling and flooring, and a redesigned reception desk. ADA compliance was prioritized throughout, with additions such as an accessible restroom, door push buttons, a new book drop, and a dedicated private reading space. A new staff break room was also incorporated into the design.
Civil and site design addressed the full exterior experience, with parking lot resealing and restriping to add accessible parking spaces, a new illuminated entrance sign, and an accessible entrance ramp seamlessly integrated into a redesigned curbless walkway system.
The result is a modernized interior that honors its role as a community anchor while achieving a thoughtful balance between accessibility and functionality.
