Key Project:

Thousand Islands Emergency Rescue Squad Facility

Clayton, NY

Since its founding in 2001, The Thousand Islands Emergency Rescue Squad (TIERS) has had the vision of  owning a building that would meet the needs of a modern emergency medical services agency.

A&C provided Professional Design Services for a new 8,000 sf modern facility for the medical services agency which provides the highest level of professional emergency medical care available in the region with on-duty paramedic level responders available 24/7. The agency has received recognition for its high-quality emergency care and innovation and is a past recipient of the prestigious Emergency Medical Services Agency of the Year Award from the NYS Department of Health.

Working closely with the members of TIERS, the architecture department created a design to meet the functional needs of the staff and volunteers and a design that blended in well with the local Clayton community and will serve as the headquarters for TIERS well into the future. The new facility has a Pre-engineered Steel Structure garage area allowing TIERS to comfortably fit four ambulances and one fly car inside the building, as well as a decontamination room and a room for O2 storage. The wood-framed office and administration section of the building will house a reception area, offices for the executive director/EMS chief and operations chief, three bunk rooms, a data/communications office, a large training room, an on-duty lounge, and kitchen with dining area.
